angela - All American Hardwood Floors in South Bend did the sanding. They did a very nice job, and I only noticed a few swirl marks after the finish was on. I did the shellacking myself.
Omar - the shellac holds up well, except against the dog nails. But the polyurethane that was upstairs got scratched and dented as well. I'd rather have a finish I can touch-up without any major prep work, which is why we went with the shellac. Plus I like that it's a natural, non-toxic finish.
