I'm literally driving myself nuts. No matter where I put the fridge, it makes a sort of tunnel. I'm used to the tunnel leading to the back porch (top of picture), so I'm having a hard time telling whether the fridge works best there because there's a little more room, or just because I'm used to it. Opinions??

Can you get a counter-depth fridge? It made a HUGE difference in our kitchen when we switched; the downside is that you have less space inside it...
I was going to suggest the same thing. They are more expensive, but we went with a counter-depth fridge in our kitchen and it also made a huge difference - I'm definitely a fan.
I prefer layout #2. With layout 1, the fridge and the wall bumpout on the right wall are close and may feel more tunnel-like, especially if you have the fridge door open. I think the couple at www.thisyounghouse.com renoed their kitchen with a layout similar to #2. You may want to check it out.
